aQuolley starts from a simple flip: instead of inventing a brand-new sport, it takes the ball games people already love — volleyball first, then futnet, tennis, badminton, handball and headball — and lifts them into shallow water.

The result is a multifunctional court that drops into shin-to-chest-deep water in minutes: posts, net and lines that adjust in size, height and rules to fit the players, the water and the moment.

There's no pool engineering, no permanent install, no learning curve — if you can play it on land, you can play it here, and the water does the rest.

The same setup that hosts a chaotic, laughing family splash on a Sunday can be dialled up to an organised, rule-bound match the next.

It's less a single game than a flexible platform for active, shared water recreation — what we call 'aQuolley sports'.

We built aQuolley because the best moments in play were never about the scoreline — they were about the people beside you.

In a world that keeps pulling everyone toward separate screens, we wanted the opposite: a reason to get into the water together and actually connect — across generations, genders and abilities.

Water makes it possible because it equalises: its buoyancy and resistance soften differences in strength, age and skill, so a child, a grandparent and an athlete can share the same rally as equals — and it turns gentle, joint-friendly movement into something that feels like fun, not exercise.

And as the heat builds each summer, that matters more, not less: aQuolley gives the water people are already reaching for a purpose beyond cooling off — a reason to play together.

The name fuses aqua (water) and volley — pronounced /ˈæk.wɒ.li/, 'a-qua-lee' — a small, easy word for a big idea.

We chose 'volley' on purpose: it stands for the rally, the back-and-forth, the shared rhythm of play rather than the trophy at the end.

But the founders are adamant that aQuolley is more than a label on a net — it's the name of a whole experience platform, an environment built for movement, laughter and real connection instead of screen time.

Born on the shallows of Lake Balaton and built with established manufacturers, the name carries its origin: water, play and people, in one breath.
